Get a good night’s sleep
Ever get the feeling when you are in bed, tossing and turning, panicking about how many hours you have left until you have to get up? Us too. Sleeping can be tricky, and with the best will in the world, sometimes it just won’t happen when you need it to, but there are a few tips and tricks we have in our back pockets for getting a good night’s sleep.
Digital detox
Have an hour of phone-free time before you go to sleep – even better, screen-free time. Make sure you pop your phone on charge either on the other side of the room or in a different room altogether and settle in for some reading, meditating, or something else which will help you unwind and relax.
Gentle movements
Whether you’re a yogi or prefer something more stretch-based, take a few gentle movements before bed to work out any kinks and tight muscles that might suddenly want attention when you get into bed. It can be super slow and relaxed, just enough to let your body know that you’re heading towards a time of rest.
Ditch the caffeine
We are coffee-lovers, too, so we feel your pain, but ditching the caffeine early afternoon will set you up for better sleep. If your mind is active and switched on from four lattes and three teas, you are going to struggle to head to the land of nod before it has a chance to switch off again.
Create a ritual
It might be a hot bath, reading your book, or switching on a sleep story, whatever helps you slow down and settle in. Creating a ritual for the evening will be a good way to build habits in your mind and to move towards seamless sleep.
